Don’t give me tomorrow
Just grant me today
Unpunctual pardon
For outrageous display
Blue planet so ancient
New species so young
Cosmos that’s endless
So vast and far-flung
We’ve
walked the savannas
Left treads on the plains
Scaled icy peaked mountains
And tundraed terrains
Tooled the flint scraper
Fashioned the spear
Fissioned the atom
Caused horror and fear
Peered at the center
And fringes of space
Exported our garbage
All over the place
Created
the lies
Paraded as truth
Brainwashed the aged
Polluted the youth
Ruthless in winning
With cunning devise
Self-propelled system
Continues to rise
Crush all who question
The powers that be
Or offers suggestions
On how to be free
Now
terror’s the product
That’s been bought and sold
With luck we’ll destruct
Start over as mold
But luck is a construct
Like time and like God
Our direction is random
Less even than odd
I’m asking of nothing
Demand just to stay
On the plane of tomorrow
With hopes of yesterday
